annual girl time

quinn and abby had their annual "daddy and daughter" weekend in rhinelander. they always have such a wonderful time together! i can't believe how grown up they are looking here...wow:) 

and they even got to help grandpa mark make his, ever so delicious, chocolate pudding....yum yum yum!

we're so funny, if i do say so myself

as i was doing dishes the other day, i overheard the kids being rather silly in my bedroom. after about 10 minutes of quietly listening, i decided i must go and see what's going on. hmmm....what's so funny on the video? the kids were videoing each other, being super silly!
i love this picture in so many ways! it reminds me of my childhood, making videos, recordings, taking pictures, and then watching/looking at them...awesome!  it's simply hilarious!

may day

we were up early to prepare for our annual celebration of may day, it happened to be on a school day, and the kids were determined to hang the baskets before the 8:30 bell. 

 here they are, setting out in the neighborhood...the anticipation, the thrills.....

 and the super fast get-a-way!! it was so worth the extra early alarm this morning:)

we have another "natural" rider

we are once again, blown away by the ease of biking for our kids! ryder totally caught us off guard on his memorable biking debut, while vacationing up in russian river (he was 4), and now quinn is doing the same thing. she transitioned from her little wooden bike (pedal-less), to ryder's red 16" trek (that he got when he turned 5). she is an amazing bike rider, and now i have both kids riding along side me while i go on runs....it's awesome!!

sweet slumber

i created this little canopy reading nook for the kids a few weeks ago, and we sure love it! i find one of them sitting in there either reading, drawing, singing, playing, hiding (which isn't very effective), and sometimes even sleeping. i think it's pretty much a hit!

soccer

there are just so many reasons to love spring! the birds, the flowers, the sunshine, the new produce, and.....soccer, of coarse!!
we put ryder on a team of kids that he doesn't get to see regularly, so they are pretty much his 'soccer friends", so when spring rolls around, it's like one big happy reunion on the first day of practice!! the team has been together now for two years, and they look awesome! i love watching how they interact together on the field, and how they genuinely get joy out of watching another teammate get a goal...knowing the game is all about "team" work, which is quite a hard concept to comprehend at a young age (well, even as adults...). I hope these guys get to stick together for more years to come...seriously, they are GOOD!!
